Basketball Game Preview: Frontier Mustangs vs. Coyle Bluejackets

Frontier is 7-1 against Coyle since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Bluejackets at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Frontier's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Coyle has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Monday, Frontier was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-48 to Newkirk.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coyle). They really took it to Carney for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-30 win. The Bluejackets pushed the score to 41-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had little chance of recovering from.

Coyle's win came from a few key players that Frontier will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Camryn Wagner, who shot 62% from the field en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2025. Peyton Downey was another key player, going 7-for-10 to rack up 15 points and seven steals.

Coyle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Coyle's victory bumped their record up to 7-18. As for Frontier, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Everything came up roses for Frontier against Coyle when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 64-31 win. In that contest, the Mustangs amassed a halftime lead of 31-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
