Baseball Recap: Custer County's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Custer County's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Florence Huskies with a sharp 18-8 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bobcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Ty Stoltzfus and Wesley Bennett did most of the damage at the plate: Stoltzfus went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Bennett went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Stoltzfus a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Burgdorff, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Custer County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Florence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Custer County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 24-0 win against Centennial on the 17th. As for Florence, they will head out on the road to take on Las Animas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
