Basketball Game Preview: Salisbury Hornets vs. Statesville Greyhounds + Official Tickets

The Salisbury Hornets will square off against the Statesville Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Salisbury lost a heartbreaker the last time they played A.L. Brown, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Hornets blew past the Wonders 74-40 on Monday. The Hornets' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Statesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 71-70 photo finish over North Rowan on Monday.

Salisbury better keep an eye on Manuel (MJ) Gladden. He was instrumental in Statesville's win, almost dropping a double-double with 29 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Gladden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was La'Damien Parker, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Statesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

The victory got Statesville back to even at 2-2. As for Salisbury, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Salisbury was able to grind out a solid victory over Statesville in their previous matchup back in December of 2015, winning 72-62. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greyhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
