Football Recap: Nyack Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Nyack had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Kingston Tigers 20-19. For the Red Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 13-2 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Nyack got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Bierfeldt out in front who threw for 122 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Johnson, who rushed for 102 yards and one TD. Cole Thorpe was another key player, picking up 113 receiving yards and one score.

Nyack has already played their next matchup, a 34-20 defeat against Brewster on the 12th. As for Kingston, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 48-28 loss against Goshen Central on the 12th.
