Football Recap: Oak Ridge Skates Past Bearden with Ease

Oak Ridge hadn't done well against Bearden recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Bulldogs 34-7. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests by 26 points or more so far this season.

Oak Ridge was led to victory by Blaine Stansberry and Malik Howard. Stansberry threw for 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Howard picked up 144 receiving yards and two TDs. Those 144 receiving yards gave Howard a new career-high.

Oak Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zayden Williams and Tyree Porter.

Oak Ridge's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 24 points thus far. As for Bearden, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Oak Ridge and Bearden will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Wildcats see the field they'll take on Hardin Valley Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Bearden, their break will end when they face Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
