Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Mccarthy Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Archbishop McCarthy walked away with it. They came out on top against the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in March.

The victory didn't come easy: Pompano Beach scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Nick Castillo paced Archbishop McCarthy's offense, picking up 29 kills. Castillo got some help from Stephen Blakely and his 33 assists. Finally, Castillo was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Archbishop McCarthy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-14 record this season. As for Pompano Beach, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-10 record.

Coming up, Archbishop McCarthy will face off against Suncoast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something the Mavericks surely won't give up without a fight. Pompano Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
