Baseball Recap: Lutheran West Comes Up Short

Lutheran West lost against Independence on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Longhorns fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jansen Gross spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

Lutheran West's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Independence, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Lutheran West and Independence should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Longhorns (ranked 317th) will meet Open Door Christian (ranked 690th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Independence will face off against Berkshire at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (176 vs. 594). The timing is sure in the Blue Devils' favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home while the Badgers have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
