Baseball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Windermere Wolverines

The First Academy Royals are taking a road trip to square off against the Windermere Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The First Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

The First Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Windermere, who was ranked 11th at the time (The First Academy was ranked seventh). The Royals were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Wolverines on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Blake Fields made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, The First Academy got a great performance from Thomas Achey as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Achey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Cannon Koronka was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Erick Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The First Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windermere struck out ten times.

The First Academy pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Windermere, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
