Football Recap: Weber Warriors vs. Brighton Bengals

While it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, Weber was not quite Brighton's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bengals. The Warriors were up 21-7 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Weber's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DYSON PARKER, who rushed for 101 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also picked up 70 receiving yards. PARKER got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 66 yards. Another passer making a difference was CARTER PAYNE, who threw for 291 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Weber didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut BROCK DEAN.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Weber, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of PARKER, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Judah Naweli was a one-man wrecking crew For Brighton. as he rushed for 235 yards and four scores while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Those 235 rushing yards gave Naweli a new career-high. Staton Gutierrez also helped out as he racked up 115 rushing yards.

Weber's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Brighton, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
