Volleyball Recap: Marian Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Mercy + How To Watch

Marian faced Mercy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to the Marlins. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Marlins: they've now lost five in a row.

Marian actually scored more points across those four sets (94-91), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-22, 25-22, 27-25.

Quinn Nelson paced Marian's offense, picking up 23 kills. Nelson got some help from Allie Davison and her 29 assists. Davison also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ashlyn Pelon, each putting up three.

Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 23-2. As for Mercy, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Marian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Notre Dame Academy on the 24th. As for Mercy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Rockford on the 20th.
