Basketball Recap: Gulf Coast Takes a Loss

Gulf Coast saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Oasis Sharks.

Oasis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brendan Overbaugh, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points. That's the most points Overbaugh has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Louzao, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points.

Gulf Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Oasis, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf Coast will challenge Lely at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lely knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Gulf Coast likes a good challenge. As for Oasis, they will face off against Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
