Preview: Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks vs. Bradford Railroaders
The Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks will head out on the road to square off against the Bradford Railroaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mississinawa Valley has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
Mississinawa Valley suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. Their rough 64-43 loss to Ansonia might stick with them for a while. Mississinawa Valley has not had much luck with Ansonia recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Mississinawa Valley saw an underclassman step up: Cing Scott scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Scott also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Bryson Gower was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Bradford suffered a rough 65-43 loss at the hands of Troy Christian last Saturday. While losing is never fun, Bradford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Troy Christian is ranked 92nd).
Mississinawa Valley dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Bradford, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
Mississinawa Valley took a serious blow against Bradford in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 70-38. Can Mississinawa Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
