Basketball Recap: Paxton Skates Past South Platte with Ease

Paxton posted their biggest victory since January 16th on Saturday. They breezed by the South Platte Blue Knights to the tune of 67-40. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Paxton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tanner Hebblethwaite, who went 10 for 16 on his way to 20 points. Jasper Brewster was another key player, going 6 of 10 to rack up 13 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Defeat or not, South Platte got some senior leadership from Quinten Koenen and Nathan Jacobs. Koenen posted 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Jacobs put up eight points in addition to six boards and three steals. The match was Koenen's third in a row with at least 16 points.

The win made it two in a row for Paxton and bumps their season record up to 13-6. As for South Platte, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Platte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bayard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
