Recap: Carlynton Cougars vs. Union Area Scotties
The Carlynton Cougars can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Union Area and snuck past 52-50. The victory was just what Carlynton needed coming off of a 84-24 defeat in their prior matchup.
Despite the loss, Union Area had strong showings from Lucas Stanley, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, and Braylon Thomas, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Stanley scored a full 32% of Union Area's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayne Johnke, who scored five points.
Carlynton's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Union Area, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-4 record last season and are now at 3-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlynton will take on Rochester at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rochester has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three contests. As for Union Area, they will be playing at home against Cornell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cornell is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
