Basketball Recap: Vanguard Academy Beethoven Comes Up Short

After soaring to 56 points the game before, Vanguard Academy Beethoven was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell to IDEA Edinburg College Prep 33-29. Vanguard Academy Beethoven hasn't had much luck with IDEA Edinburg College Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the loss, Vanguard Academy Beethoven still got an impressive performance from Erik Cantu, who posted 16 points. The contest was Cantu's third in a row with at least ten points.

Leading IDEA Edinburg College Prep to victory were MIchael Meza and Gael Gama. Meza dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards, while Gama went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. Those 13 boards gave Meza a new career-high.

Vanguard Academy Beethoven's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Vanguard Academy Beethoven will venture away from home to take on Vanguard Academy Rembrandt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vanguard Academy Rembrandt will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Vanguard Academy Beethoven surely won't give up without a fight. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, they will host IDEA College Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. IDEA Edinburg College Prep is facing IDEA College Prep at the right time seeing as IDEA College Prep is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
