Basketball Game Preview: Seymour Wildcats vs. Bacon Academy Bobcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Seymour Wildcats take on Bacon Academy Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Seymour sitting on three straight victories and Bacon Academy on 11.

Seymour is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 56-32 margin over Woodland Regional. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Seymour found their leader in sophomore Viktoria Michalczyk, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 19 points along with six assists and three steals. Michalczyk continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Mia Cunningham was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards.

Seymour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Bacon Academy blew past Wilcox RVT, posting a 64-30 win. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Wildcats are ranked 59th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seymour's victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Bacon Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.
