Basketball Recap: Durham Academy Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

While Durham Academy has struggled on the road with three straight losses, that wasn't the case on Tuesday thanks to JJ Wilcox. The Durham Academy Cavaliers walked away with a 66-54 win over the Cary Academy Chargers thanks in part to Wilcox, who went 12 for 16 en route to 26 points in addition to five boards and three steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played.

Another player making a difference was PJ Jeffries, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games he's played.

Cary Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Julian Tweedy and Aidan Rousseau. Tweedy dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Rousseau dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Champ Lando was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Durham Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Cary Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Durham Academy will face off against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Durham Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Cary Academy, they will take on Ravenscroft at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ravenscroft will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Cary Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
