Basketball Recap: Jamestown Drops Season-High Score on New Kent

Jamestown scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 88-71 bruising from the New Kent Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Trojans are ranked 25th).

New Kent had a senior duo take command as Kyle Diggs went 10 of 13 on his way to 24 points and five steals and Will Ross went 7 for 13 en route to 17 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. The matchup was Ross' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marty Wray, who posted 12 points.

Jamestown dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for New Kent, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Jamestown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-38 win against Poquoson on the 29th. New Kent has also already played their next contest, an 87-38 victory against York on the 28th.
