Basketball Game Preview: Merritt Academy Mustangs vs. Michigan Math & Science

Merritt Academy is 0-3 against Michigan Math & Science since January of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Merritt Academy Mustangs will take on Michigan Math & Science at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Merritt Academy came up short against Hope Of Detroit Academy and fell 59-49. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Michigan Math & Science had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They breezed past Universal Learning Academy to the tune of 58-17. Michigan Math & Science has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season.

Michigan Math & Science's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points over those games. As for Merritt Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Merritt Academy might still be hurting after the 61-37 loss they got from Michigan Math & Science in their previous matchup back in January. Can Merritt Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
