Basketball Recap: Elkhorn Valley Comes Up Short

Elkhorn Valley played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats, falling 64-29. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Elkhorn Valley lost, don't look at Kellyn Ollendick. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 on his way to 13 points and six boards. That was a full 44.8% of Elkhorn Valley's points, marking the sixth time in a row Ollendick has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Korbin Werner, who earned eight points and seven rebounds.

Sam Cheatum continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], going 5-for-10 en route to 11 points and seven assists. Beau Ahlers also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Elkhorn Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3.

As of now, neither Elkhorn Valley nor Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] have any future games scheduled.
