Basketball Recap: Brooklynn White Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Manteo

Hertford County won the last time they faced Manteo and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hertford County Bears enjoyed a cozy 45-30 victory over the Manteo Redskins. The Bears pushed the score to 42-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Redskins cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hertford County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklynn White, who posted ten points along with eight assists and six steals. Hertford County is 3-1 when White posts five or more steals, but 6-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Karae' Alfred, who earned ten points and five boards.

Despite the defeat, Manteo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Symaria Howard scored ten points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Howard. Whitney Salazar also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Hertford County's record is now 9-12. As for Manteo, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Hertford County has already played their next contest (against Holmes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Manteo, they will venture away from home to challenge Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Manteo is facing Camden County at the right time seeing as Camden County is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
