Softball Preview: Southern Christian Patriots vs. Wiregrass Kings

For the second straight game, Southern Christian will face off against Wiregrass. The Patriots will challenge the Kings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southern Christian has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southern Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 victory over Wiregrass on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Kimber White was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and nine unearned) runs off 12 hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Anna Bradshaw was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Jacelyn Mckee also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Southern Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Southern Christian's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-11. As for Wiregrass, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
