Softball Game Preview: Acalanes Dons vs. College Park Falcons

The Acalanes Dons will head out to face off against the College Park Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Acalanes fell victim to Benicia and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 12-0 to the Panthers. It was the first time this season that the Dons let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, College Park and San Ramon Valley finished up their game with a 1-1 tie on Friday. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Savannah Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

With that tie, College Park's record moves to 4-5-1. As for Acalanes, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.

College Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Acalanes has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .519. It's a different story for College Park, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Acalanes' hitters?

Acalanes might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from College Park when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
