Softball Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. Sierra Timberwolves

The Patterson Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Sierra Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Tuesday, Patterson didn't have quite enough to beat East Union and fell 2-1. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Desirrei Sorci spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Patterson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jazmine Isom, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Sierra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Mountain House, falling 24-1.

Izabella Cervantez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Patterson, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Sierra's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Patterson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sierra, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Patterson keep running through batters, or will Sierra buck the trend?

Patterson skirted past Sierra 8-7 in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. Does Patterson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sierra turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
