Baseball Game Preview: Utica Chieftains vs. L'Anse Creuse North Crusaders

For the second straight game, Utica will face off against L'Anse Creuse North. The Chieftains will square off against the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

L'Anse Creuse North hit Utica with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains fell 6-1 to the Crusaders.

For L'Anse Creuse North's part, they got a great performance from Jackson Choike as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Choike has posted over his last five contests.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Warnack, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hrydziuszko, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

The victory was the third in a row for L'Anse Creuse North, bringing their record up to 12-15. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Utica, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season.
