Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Baptist Academy Patriots vs. Sissonville Indians

Calvary Baptist Academy is 0-3 against Sissonville since December of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Calvary Baptist Academy Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sissonville Indians at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Calvary Baptist Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

While Calvary Baptist Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 81-40 stomp they got against Mingo Central. Childers' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Good, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Calvary Baptist Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sissonville was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. The game between them and Nitro didn't end well, with Sissonville falling 67-50. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Wildcats are ranked sixth).

Calvary Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Sissonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Calvary Baptist Academy suffered a grim 72-47 defeat to Sissonville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Calvary Baptist Academy, Dylan Casto (who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
