Softball Recap: Burroughs' Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Burroughs had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Crescenta Valley Falcons, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 1st.

Valentina Reyes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chloe Centeno was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Karlee Earl was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Burroughs' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Crescenta Valley, they moved to 13-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Burroughs will take on Paso Robles in a tournament on Thursday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Crescenta Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Harvard-Westlake at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
