Basketball Recap: Cotulla Comes Up Short

Cotulla had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 11-19 to make it four. They took a hard 71-53 fall against the Crystal City Javelinas. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Javelinas this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 88-70 back in January.

As for Crystal City, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 22-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.3 points over those games.

Crystal City was led to victory by Jordan Urrabazo and Christopher Mena. Urrabazo shot 76% from the field on his way to 26 points, while Mena posted 26 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The contest was Urrabazo's third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Rousseau, who earned ten points along with six assists and four steals.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cotulla will welcome Poteet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Crystal City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Natalia at 6:15 p.m. The Javelinas will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.81 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
