Basketball Recap: Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind Takes a Loss

Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind lost against Lourdes Catholic back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind Sentinels were dealt a 73-36 defeat at the hands of the Lourdes Catholic Warriors. The Sentinels' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind saw an underclassman step up: freshman Irving Arizmendi went 11 of 23 en route to 25 points along with seven boards and four steals. That was a full 69.4% of Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Lourdes Catholic, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 33-25 defeat against Phoenix Day School for the Deaf on the 18th. As for Lourdes Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-29 loss against St. Augustine Catholic on the 17th.
