Softball Game Preview: Wilkes Central Eagles vs. Forbush Falcons

Wilkes Central is 0-10 against Forbush since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Wilkes Central has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wilkes Central is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game back in March. They came up short against Surry Central, falling 20-9. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked the Eagles' highest-scoring contest to date.

Jaylyn Rhodes and Kaylee Johnson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rhodes went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Johnson scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those hits were Rhodes' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Simpson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Forbush waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Wilkes Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Forbush, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Wilkes Central might still be hurting after the 19-1 loss they got from Forbush in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
