Baseball Game Preview: Guymon Tigers vs. MacArthur Highlanders

The Guymon Tigers will take on the MacArthur Highlanders at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Guymon will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Guymon and Hooker meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again last Tuesday. The Tigers walked away with a 7-2 win over the Bulldogs.

Andres Ozaeta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Drazen Romero and Jonathan Christian did most of the damage at the plate: Romero went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Christian got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Christian is becoming a predictor of Guymon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-15 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Wyett Durbin, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for MacArthur, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-9 margin over Eisenhower on Monday. Considering the Highlanders have won 16 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Guymon's victory bumped their record up to 11-15. As for MacArthur, their win bumped their record up to 20-17.
