Baseball Recap: West Broward Comes Up Short

West Broward and Columbus squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but West Broward had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Explorers by a score of 4-3. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Explorers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

West Broward got a good showing from Derek Sclafani, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sclafani has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Manuel Sarcos was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

West Broward's defeat dropped their record down to 19-12. As for Columbus, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season.

While West Broward had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
