Baseball Recap: St. Pauls Find Success

St. Pauls lost to Fairmont back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Golden Tornadoes 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Jaden Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Parker was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of St. Pauls' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaylen Jacobs, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Josh Garner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

St. Pauls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairmont only posted a batting average of .130.

St. Pauls' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Fairmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

St. Pauls will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fairmont: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
