Friona is a perfect 5-0 against Tulia since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Chieftans will face off against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.

Friona is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Canadian last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Chieftans had to suffer through a 65-7 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. The Chieftans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 58-0.

Meanwhile, Tulia was beaten by Canadian 65-6 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1082nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 297th).

Tulia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Friona, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Friona against Tulia in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 52-15 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
