Recap: South Oak Cliff Bears vs. Emerson Mavericks
With a playoff game on the line, the South Oak Cliff Bears rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 36-24. The victory was familiar territory for South Oak Cliff who now have 12 in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Danny Green jr, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. He hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games.
South Oak Cliff's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Emerson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Izzy Bills, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Michael Hawkins, who rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown.
South Oak Cliff's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Emerson, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
South Oak Cliff is on the road again on Saturday and play against Port Neches-Groves at 11:00 a.m. on December 16th. Port Neches-Groves will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak. Emerson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
