Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Raiders vs. Wellston Golden Rockets

River Valley is 2-8 against Wellston since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The River Valley Raiders will face off against the Wellston Golden Rockets at 7:00 p.m. River Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.

River Valley is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game on Friday. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Athens. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly nine points.

Despite their loss, River Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braden Bennett, who posted 20 points and six boards, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Gary Truance, who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wellston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They strolled past Athens with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 50-35. The game marked the Golden Rockets' most dominant victory of the season.

River Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Wellston, their win bumped their record up to 4-14.

River Valley came up short against Wellston in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 59-51. Can River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
