Preview: Argyle Eagles vs. Colleyville Heritage Panthers
The Argyle Eagles will square off against the Colleyville Heritage Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a ten-game winning streak alive.
With a playoff game on the line, Argyle rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-14 win over the Bulldogs on the road. Argyle might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matchups by 30 points or more this season.
Maguire Gasperson was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes. Will Krzysiak also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Argyle's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Wylie's QB won't forget Hudson Emeterio anytime soon given Emeterio sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Colleyville Heritage put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Cooper on the road to the tune of 55-21. Colleyville Heritage pushed the score to 45-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Cooper cut but never quite recovered from.
Colleyville Heritage's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Braden Blueitt, who picked up 146 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Luke Ullrich, who threw for 286 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes.
Their wins bumped Argyle to 10-2 and Wylie to 8-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Argyle has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 197.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Colleyville Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 174.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
