Softball Game Preview: Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines vs. Andover Panthers

Bolivar-Richburg has gone 8-2 against Andover recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wolverines will face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Andover will be up against a hot Bolivar-Richburg team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Cuba-Rushford on Friday.

Kylee Whiting made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Teegan Sibble was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Cassidy Stives was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Bolivar-Richburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuba-Rushford only posted an OBP of .290.

Meanwhile, Andover got the win against Hammondsport on Friday by a conclusive 11-2. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Bolivar-Richburg pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Andover, their record is now 6-9.

Bolivar-Richburg took their victory against Andover when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
