Recap: Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors vs. Covenant Life Cougars

The Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Covenant Life Cougars had 1400% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mountain View Christian Academy was outmatched by Covenant Life on the road and fell 78-42. While losing is never fun, Mountain View Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 228th in Virginia, while Covenant Life is ranked 32nd in Maryland).

Mountain View Christian Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Landon Demko, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Devin Michael, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.

Covenant Life's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Hughes, who scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Noah Crawford was another key contributor, scoring 25 points along with 3 steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Covenant Life, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View Christian Academy will take on Wakefield Country Day at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wakefield Country Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday. Covenant Life's road trip will continue as they head out to face Arlington Baptist at 5:00 p.m. on December 4th. Arlington Baptist comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
