Softball Recap: Lewis County Lions vs. Lawrence County Bulldogs

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, Lewis County was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to the Lawrence County Bulldogs. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Jerra Lucas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Lucas was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lucas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Myla Clark, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Lewis County's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Lawrence County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Lewis County and Lawrence County will both be playing Rowan County the next time they take the field. The Lions will host the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
