Baseball Game Preview: Grafton Bearcats vs. Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers

The Grafton Bearcats will challenge the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Grafton has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grafton couldn't beat Elkins on Saturday even though they stacked six runs on them in the sixth inning. The Bearcats fell 14-10 to the Tigers. Bearcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Saturday.

Greyson Ramezan was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chace Kinsey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Buckhannon-Upshur faced Parkersburg South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buccaneers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Patriots, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grafton's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
