Football Recap: Jefferson Starts Season with Victory Against Marist

Jefferson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Marist War Eagles a 19-0 shutout. For the Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 23-7 victory the War Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

A big part of Jefferson's win came down to the chemistry between Colton Grant and his top target Logan Edmunds. Grant rushed for 45 yards and one TD while Edmunds picked up 55 receiving yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Grant a new career-high in passing yards (76).

Jefferson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-3 victory against Jackson County on the 22nd. As for Marist, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Woodward Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th.
