Baseball Recap: Owyhee Triumphs

Owyhee's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 2-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Storm also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2023.

Heath Sasser-Gunson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gage Haws was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hallenbeck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Owyhee's win bumped their record up to 27-3. As for Coeur d'Alene, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Owyhee nor Coeur d'Alene have any future games scheduled.
