Softball Game Preview: St. Michael Catholic Cardinals vs. Satsuma Gators

The St. Michael Catholic Cardinals are taking a road trip to square off against the Satsuma Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, St. Michael Catholic got the win against Davidson by a conclusive 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Addison Pratt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matches.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelia Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Aryia Blackmon was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

St. Michael Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Satsuma, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Mobile Christian 12-2 on Monday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Gators' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

St. Michael Catholic's record now sits at 9-14. As for Satsuma, their record is now 19-13-2.

St. Michael Catholic suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Satsuma in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
