Baseball Game Preview: Ayala Bulldogs vs. South Hills Huskies

Ayala hasn't had much luck against South Hills recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The two teams will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 3:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Ayala 3.8, South Hills 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Ayala's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Arlington 1-0.

Isaac Huver looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ayala saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Granados, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Jonah Boyd also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, South Hills didn't have quite enough to beat San Marino on Thursday and fell 6-4.

Carson Baker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayden Vieth, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory got Ayala back to even at 2-2. As for South Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Ayala couldn't quite finish off South Hills in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 and fell 7-5. Can Ayala avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
