Softball Recap: Wellington Beats Seminole Ridge for Their Third Straight Victory

Wellington proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Seminole Ridge Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since May 9, 2024.

The result came thanks to Grace VanDyke's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Erryn Lowe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Angelina Baronci was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Wellington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seminole Ridge struck out 11 times.

The victory (which was Wellington's third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Seminole Ridge, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coincidentally, Wellington and Seminole Ridge will both be playing Palm Beach Gardens the next time they take the field. Seminole Ridge will host Palm Beach Gardens at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Wellington will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
