Volleyball Recap: Payten Butler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Moriarty over Espanola Valley + How To Watch

After flying high against Pojoaque Valley last Thursday, Moriarty came back down to earth. The Pintos took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Espanola Valley Sundevils on Tuesday. The Pintos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sundevils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 15-25, 25-19, 25-13.

Moriarty's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payten Butler, who had nine digs.

Moriarty moved to 6-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Espanola Valley, their win ended an eight-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-11.

Moriarty has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Los Alamos on the 16th. As for Espanola Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Pojoaque Valley on the 16th.
