Harlingen entered their tilt with San Benito on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the San Benito Greyhounds by a score of 59-48. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sarah Sanusi was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 9 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Tamez, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Harlingen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Angelina Reyes and Jade Maya certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Reyes went 6 for 10 on her way to 19 points, while Maya went 5 of 11 en route to 17 points and three steals. Railyn Garcia also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Harlingen has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for San Benito, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 19-11.

Harlingen will welcome Veterans Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Harlingen has won seven straight at home dating back to last season, while Veterans Memorial won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change. San Benito has already played their next game (against Hanna), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
