Soccer Game Preview: Steele Canyon vs. Del Norte

The Steele Canyon Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Del Norte Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Steele Canyon will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Steele Canyon is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They fell just short of Hilltop by a score of 3-2 back in December of 2024. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 951st, while the Lancers are ranked 345th).

Meanwhile, Del Norte's game on Thursday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged St. Augustine out 2-1. The result kept the Nighthawks happy, as they haven't lost a game yet this season.

Del Norte's victory bumped their record up to 4-0-2. As for Steele Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Steele Canyon took their win against Del Norte when the teams last played back in February of 2015 by a conclusive 3-0. Does Steele Canyon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Del Norte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
