Football Recap: Union Piles Up the Points Against Yukon

Union won the last time they faced Yukon and things went their way on Thursday too. The Redhawks simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Millers 49-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Redhawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Millers are ranked 41st).

Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Daijon Gaines and Oliver Smith. Smith also made four total tackles, which is notable because Union is 2-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-3 otherwise. The Redhawks received some extra help from Ian Castellanos, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Union is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points over those games. As for Yukon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Union will square off against Broken Arrow at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Yukon, they will take on Norman North at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Millers will be up against the Timberwolves' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
